Calling All Volunteers!

Are you hip to the historic?  Are you passionate about preservation? If so, we may have the volunteer opportunity you've been looking for!  The following opportunities are currently available:

Education Program Docent

You can be instrumental in educating Maui's students about the rich history of the sugar industry and plantation life on our island. Tour Guides (docents) lead groups of elementary school students on informative tours of the Sugar Museum. This beloved program, which began in 1990, fulfills DOE requirements and provides an important cultural learning opportunity for our keiki.

Current schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m., September through April. This is an on-call and seasonal opportunity —You choose the Tuesday or Thursday you would like to volunteer! Training provided. 

Gift Shop Assistance

Do you like history? Do you wear a smile every day?  The Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum is seeking volunteer help in its Plantation Store.  Greet customers, talk story, Ring up sales, smile, stock shelves, talk story some more, price merchandise and offer general all-around help.  Current schedule is Wednesdays, 1-4 p.m. Training provided (except the smiling part.  That you already know.)

Benefits of volunteering at the Sugar Museum include: Mileage stipend, museum passes, discount in Plantation Store, appreciation luncheon.
